3rd May 2020The Rice Bowl, Lavelle Road, is one of the sophisticated restaurants I have been to. I was invited to an Anniversary, the couple just completed their 5 years together. They had a theme for this event- wear something you wore on your first anniversary. I noticed that almost all of us agreed to the dress code. The couple was dressed in red outfits. Approach
Located inside of the Hotel Southern Star in the Ashok Nagar area of Pune, the Rice Bowl is a Chinese restaurant that can surely take care of your Chinese cuisine cravings. The restaurant provides for parking facilities. And for those not coming in their private vehicles, you need not worry, because public transport is easily available from around here.
Ambience
The restaurant has a very enjoyable ambiance. It is well structured and seatings are organised in a way that make it a very family friendly restaurant. Long tables for extended family dinners are available as well as those four seater ones for the nuclear families visiting this place. The decor doesn't stand out. And rather than focusing on the interiors to appeal to its guests, it focuses on the food. The furniture is cream coloured and comfortable. The venue is spacious and when you have the soft music playing in the background here, your experience multiplies two folds.
Food and Service
Rice Bowl is one of those restuarants that have stood the test of time. It was quite a rage in the 90s for its Chinese and Indian fusion food and it lives up to that reputation to this day. The restaurant is hugely famous for its slurpy soups, chowmein, and fried rice. The menu comprises a mix of old favourites and some new additions. The dessert section is also quite innovative. You can try the Darsaan(crunchy fried noodles) with ice cream if you want to experiment or stick the old favourites is you want to play it safe.
